Dr. Cihan will examine you, answer all your questions and help you make an informed decision about your procedure: Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy, Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass, Non-Surgical Intragastric Balloon or Revision Bariatric Surgery.
A special diet may be required before your procedure. Your medications will be adjusted. All necessary blood tests and imaging are performed before surgery. Abdominal ultrasound and endoscopic evaluations are performed.
Your surgery is performed laparoscopically (closed) under general anesthesia. You will stay 1 or 2 nights in the hospital.
Dr. Cihan will check you daily and answer your questions. There is constant nurse follow-up. You will be discharged after you are sure that you feel well. Before you leave the hospital, the dietician will inform you about your nutrition process.
You will see Dr. Cihan one week after the surgery. In the meantime, you will have access to our assistant by phone if you have any concerns or questions.
You will follow your nutrition plan, starting with clear liquids and continuing with darker liquids, pureed foods and soft foods. Each phase lasts one week. You will start solid foods on the 30th day after surgery.
You will follow your supplementation plan with vitamins and minerals to make sure you get the right nutrition. Your vitamin levels will be checked every 6-12 months to check for abnormalities. Any necessary changes to your diet will be made by the dietitian.
You will follow a graded exercise plan. To reap the health benefits, it is recommended that you participate in physical activity for at least 150 minutes a week. This equates to about 30 minutes five days a week or 60 minutes three days a week.
In addition to drinking enough water and exercising regularly, you will continue to focus on foods that nourish your body, including lean protein, fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
You will continue to take your vitamins and minerals.
